Im now so excited, its boundless. Finally after the tour around wolf park to see its other inhabitants (ie: herd of bison, coyotes, foxes, and more woves.) they called us in. I was supposed to be going in a group of 4 but some didn't show. I was the only one standing at the air lock. 4 wolves were standing there excitedly wanting to welcome me. As soon as I stepped in I was jumped by the Beta Wotan. The rest were happily sniffing around my person and trying to knock me over. It was so cold out I had to keep from shivering but I could just feel how soft their fur really was.
Wolves are much larger than dogs but its something you really can't see from behind a fence. Wotan especially, hes got to be 6ft from nose to tail! He was real friedly too. Ruedi I recognised as the one with blue- gray eyes, hes the omega and got picked on alot even for no reason. Wolfgang and Renki were milling about settling scores behind you in snarls. I wasn't the least bit scared suprisingly. Andy made jokes that I postured as the alpha female because she wasn't present. Wotan was standing there letting me pet him and he gave me kisses on the face.
The only one I hadn't seen was Tristan. The staff tell me he takes a while to warm up but its still rare for him to let you pet him. I treasure the moment he came up, stood parallel to me and invited a pet. I felt so lucky! Soon came the time to depart the enclosure and leave my friends for another day. I cannot express how wonderful it was. Or how thankful I am for this great gift from Andy.
